"Fondness is more like
old jeans -- there is a comfort to this emotion, a worn-in feeling."
-- Ann Hood
1. It is not uncommon
for two people to bond because they are different from everyone around
them. Below are some ideas of people in a situation. Choose a pair or make
up your own and write a paragraph that explains their bond and their mutual
liking.
Two college freshmen
away from home for the first time
Two racially or ethnically
different kids in a neighborhood
Two daughers-in-law
in a large family
The only two homosexuals
in a corporate office
Twins
2. Writing in the first
person, write one or two paragraphs in which a character is trying to decide
if he is fond of, or loves, someone. Then have the character decide if
what he feels is fondness or lust.
3. Make a list of all
the qualities you like about someone. Don't hold back. Picture someone
you really like and list everything you like.
