"Never draw fire; it
irritates the people around you."

1. Write one page of
dialogue between two characters that shows increasing irritation in both
people.
2. Choose a character
type and have them explain someone's irritation to the reader in one paragraph.
You can choose from one of the types below or make up one of your own.
A recovering alcoholic
tells about his distrustful wife
A pregnant woman tells
about the unwilling father of the baby
A sick old man tells
about his healthy wife
A young woman tells
about her new boyfriend who is allergic to her cat
3. Write a one page character
sketch of the most irritating person you can imagine. Then write a three
page story in which that person is stuck in an elevator with you. Write
in the first person. Do your best to avoid stating how you feel. Instead,
show the reader.
