WriteArt! Exercises: Jealousy

"Jealousy is never satisfied with anything short of an omniscience that would detect the subtlest fold of the heart."
-- George Eliot

1. Make a list of vivid details that would evoke jealousy. Then, write ten unusual ones. Can you use details from your list to write a few paragraphs from the perspective of a jealous character? Try.

2. Write a one to two page scene in which a character is imagining the ex-lover of her husband/his wife.

3. Write a list of emotions that feel like jealousy and/or emotions that jealousy includes. Then choose one of them and write a paragraph describing jealousy through that emotion. Take risks. Choose an emotion rarely associated with jealousy.
