1. Write a short scene (half a page max) using surprise for each of these thee events: giving birth, a thunderstorm, love at first sight.
 

2. Write a scene in interior monologue in which a character gets deliberately hit in the face by a Frisbee thrown by her teenage son. Then write a second scene in which the same thing happens, but use only exterior responses to demonstrate the surprise.
